14.28 If the AvdapMon utility is run on the Voice Processing PC itself, there is a shortcut
notation to specify the IP and port numbers. In this case, simply type
avdapmon. (that is,
avdapmon followed by a space, a period, a space, and a period again).
14.29 To protect the Voice Processing PC against unauthorized access through AvdapMon, a
password can be required to use the AvdapMon utility. This password is set through DB Pro-
gramming (see page 6-351).
Voice Processing Configuration
14.30 The Voice Processing software runs as a service (called “avdap”) under the Windows
operating system. It gets its startup parameters from the registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVDAP\Parameters. Information such as the IP
address AVDAP listens to, the size of log files, and the drive to map as B: Drive, can be speci-
fied there.
14.31 The Inter-Tel Voice Mail configuration utility provides a user-friendly graphical user
interface to specify these parameters without accessing the registry directly. The fields that can
be modified through the configuration utility include:
• IP Addresses and IP Port for AVDAP and CP
• Select or deselect IP for ASAI Connection
• Enable or disable log files
• The log files size and number of log files
• Serial port used by AVDAP for ASAI connection
• Enable or disable SMDR Polling on serial port
• Drive to map B: Drive to (map_b_drive for save/restore to/from network drive)
• Ignore the parameters in Avdap.opt file
14.32 The Configuration Utility uses various registry keys under HKEY_LOCAL_
MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVDAP to keep track of the values of the fields. When you perform
a Voice Processing database save, it saves the new values to the keys. In addition, it manipu-
lates the MULTI_SZ in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVDAP\Parameters based
on those values, so that Voice Processing obtains the appropriate values during startup.
