Voice Processing PC
14. VOICE PROCESSING PC
14.1 For integrated voice processing (voice mail, automated attendant, hunt group announce-
ment and overflow, optional Fax-On-Demand, buffered SMDR, Record-A-Call, etc.), an
optional Voice Processing PC with special applications software can be attached to the phone
system. For more information, see SPECIFICATIONS, page 2-88, and VOICE PROCESSING
FEATURES beginning on page 4-1.
NOTE: As of version 8.0, the OS/2 Voice Processing Unit is no longer supported.
14.2 The Voice Processing PC is required for the Unified Messaging feature and to support
the increased voice mail capacities. Currently, the PC runs either Windows NT or Windows
2000. For details about the EM unit, see the Enterprise Messaging Installation Manual (docu-
ment part no. 780.8006).
14.3 The Windows NT-based Voice Processing PC is equipped with the following items:
• Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0 operating system software (equipped
with Service Pack 5)
• Pentium 133 MHz or AMD K6-2 or higher microprocessor (depending on the PC ver-
sion)
• 32 MB or 64 MB RAM (depending on the PC version)
• 2.1 GB or larger hard disk drive
14.4 The Windows 2000-based Voice Processing PC is equipped with the following items:
• Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system software (equipped with Service Pack 4)
• AMD-K6
®
-2 300 MHz microprocessor (desktop) or Pentium III 850 MHz micropro-
cessor (rackmount)
• 128 MB RAM
• 30 or 40 GB hard disk drive
• 235 Watt power supply
14.5 In addition, both Voice Processing PCs include the following:
• 3.5-inch (1.44MB) double-sided/high-density floppy disk drive
• CD-ROM
• Network Interface Card
• Standard VGA monitor, keyboard, and mouse
14.6 The Network Interface Card (NIC) is a specially designed network communications
processor card that can transfer data packets between the Voice Processing PC and a Local
Area Network (LAN).
CAUTION
Personal computer (PC) technology is continually evolving. As it does, the Inter-Tel Voice
Processing PC continues to incorporate important design enhancements. Thus, depending
on the actual version of equipment that is shipped, the following installation instructions
could vary somewhat. If revised instructions are included with the equipment, refer to the
new information instead.
