D. PRIMARY RATE ISDN TRUNKS (EUROPE ONLY)
NOTE: This requires the Advanced CO Interfaces software license and an E1 Primary Card
(E1/PRI), or T1/E1/PRI Card.
Primary Rate B-Channel E1 Trunks
10.34 The system supports primary-rate B-channels. Each E1C can have up to 30 B-channels.
Each B-channel is programmed as an individual trunk in the database.
10.35 The capacities for PRI operation (E1/PRI or T1/E1/PRI) is as follow:
NOTE: As of version 8.0, the capacities in a CPC64 or CPC128 are limited by the software
license.
10.36 B-Channel trunks can be combined with other types of trunks in any trunk group.
10.37 If a user attempts to place an outgoing call using an individual B-Channel trunk, the
system sends a Setup Request to the network that requests that B-Channel. If the network spec-
ifies a different B-channel (possibly because of a glare condition), the system releases the call,
and the user hears busy tone. The call camps on to the selected B-Channel trunk. If the same
situation occurs when the user selects a B-Channel through a trunk group or ARS, the system
simply moves to the next available trunk instead of camping on.
10.38 The CO Hookflash (Recall) feature cannot be used on B-Channel trunks.
10.39 The ISDN card supports DDI and CLIP.
Service Flexibility
10.40 ISDN B-channels are placed into trunk groups to control ring-in and outgoing access.
10.41 All B-channels could be placed in the same group or, where available, they can be split
for various services. For example, if your network provider supports this, one ISDN link could
contain any combination of the following:
• Various lines from the “Main Number” of the company
• Various lines for DDI
• Various single dedicated channels for faxes, modems, etc.
10.42 Each group can contain trunks from different connections.
