MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Programming STAR Applications
4.49 A STAR application is basically a “routing table” for Voice Processing applications.
When a direct ring-in call (from a trunk group or call routing table) rings in to a STAR applica-
tion, it sends the call to another Voice Processing application, according to its programmed
schedule. The caller will not be aware of this transfer, but will hear the programmed day or
night greeting for the destination application. (The STAR application itself does not play a
greeting.)
4.50 STAR can be used with any type of Voice Processing application except Auto Attendant
Recall and Record-A-Call. You can even send calls from one STAR application to another,
thereby “chaining” the applications together to increase the number of available schedules.
4.51 There can be as many STAR applications as desired, so long as the maximum limit for
the number of Voice Processing applications is not exceeded. For more information and a sam-
ple STAR setup, see page 4-34 in VOICE PROCESSING FEATURES.
4.52 Schedules 1-20: Each schedule can have a description. To enter the description, select
the current Value and then enter a description for the schedule, up to 20 characters. To program
the remaining information for each schedule, double-click on the schedule to display the fol-
lowing fields:
• Application: This is the extension number of the application that will be invoked when
the time-based information in the table matches that of the incoming call. To assign the
application, use one of the following methods:
Method A
a. Select the current Value and enter the new value in the text box.
b. Press ENTER. A screen appears showing you what is associated with the number
you entered.
c. Select OK. The new number appears in the field.
Method B
a. Right-click on the current Value. An options box appears. Select Change Applica-
tion
. A window appears that asks you to select the type to include.
b. Select the desired application and then select Next. A list of applications appears.
(You can view them in a list by selecting the List button or view details by select-
ing the Details button.)
c. Select the desired application and then select Finish. The new value appears in the
field.
NOTE: If you would like to view the programming for the selected application, double-
click on the field to jump to the application’s programming area.
• Specific Date: If you want the schedule to be active on a single day or for a period of
days, enable this flag. To enable this flag, select the check box to place a check in it and
change the setting to
Yes. To disable it, select the check box again to remove the check
mark and set it to
No. Then press ENTER or click on another field to save the changes.
• Start and Stop Date: If the Specific Date field is set to
Yes, use these fields to set the
date(s) that this schedule will be active (such as a holiday). Enter the date you want the
schedule to begin in the Start Date text box and the date you want it to end in the Stop
Date text box. After entering information, press
ENTER or click on another field to save
the changes. To have the schedule active on only one day, set the Start and Stop Dates
to the same day.
