MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Voice Processor Database Backup with Windows-Based VPU
5. Select the days of the week to perform the maintenance in the Maintenance Days field.
NOTE: You can perform Steps 2 through 5 through the DB Programming Maintenance
menu (Voice Processor\Maintenance).
6.
If saving to a local drive:
a. Clear the Temporary Local Save Directory field.
b. Set the Voice Processor Database Save Directory field to the location on your
local PC where the Voice Processor backup will be restored.
If saving to an attached mass-media device:
a. Set the Temporary Local Save Directory field to the location on your hard drive
where the Voice Processor backup will be temporarily stored during the backup
operation (e.g., d:\backup). Although this step is optional, it will help to sub-
stantially reduce downtime during backups to mass-media drives. The backup files
will first be copied to the local hard drive and then to the appropriate destination
on the mass-media device. This allows the Voice Processor to start as soon as the
backup to the local drive is complete.
b. Set the Voice Processor Database Save Directory field to the location on the mass-
media device where the Voice Processor backup will be stored.
If saving to a network drive:
a. Set the Temporary Local Save Directory field to the location on your hard drive
where the Voice Processor backup will be temporarily stored during the backup
operation (e.g., d:\backup). Although this step is optional, it will help to sub-
stantially reduce downtime during backups to network drives. The backup files
will first be copied to the local hard drive and then to the appropriate destination
on the network device. This allows the Voice Processor to start as soon as the
backup to the local drive is complete.
b. Set drive B: as the Voice Processor Database Save Directory.
c. Start the Avdap Configuration Utility.
d. Select the Others tab.
e. Specify the network destination path in the Map B: Drive field.
f. Start DB Programming and connect to the system.
g. Under Voice Processor, set the Windows Networking Username, Windows Net-
working Domain, and Windows Networking Password to the values required for
the Voice Processing Unit to access the network PC where the network drive is
located (see page 6-351 for details about programming these fields).
