MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
BRU and BRS Cards Cabling Requirements
• BRS Power Supply Jumpers: Each of the eight BRS ports can be configured to
receive power from the BRS card or from an external source by setting the port’s
jumper. If the device connected to a BRS port uses an external power supply, the
jumper for that port must be set over the bottom four pins. In the default position, the
jumper is set over the top four pins, which sets the port to use power from the BRS.
(See page 3-37 for details on the BRS jumper settings.)
BRU and BRS Cards Cabling Requirements
4.220 Inter-Tel recommends that special high-speed data cable with the following characteris-
tics be used for all BRI cards installations:
• 22 AWG (22 gauge thickness or larger -- smaller number gauge = larger thickness)
• Individually shielded two-pair (or with the transmit and receive pairs run in separate
cables or binder groups)
• ABAM or PIC (a level-3 cable designed specifically for the T-carrier transmission rate)
• Maximum capacitance of 15pF/ft
• Maximum attenuation of 5dB/1000 ft (300 m) at 772 kHz and 70° F (21° C)
