5.45 One Mini-DSS Unit can be installed on every Model 8520 and/or Model 8560 Phone in
the system. Because the Mini-DSS does not utilize any of the resources required by a DSS/
BLF, a phone can have one Mini-DSS and up to four DSS/BLF Units.
NOTE: Version 7.0 or later software is required to use the Mini-DSS.
5.46 Each single unit provides one-button access to 16 extension numbers and/or other fea-
tures/resources. (See page 3-206 for Mini-DSS Unit installation instructions.)
5.47 Mini-DSS Units are physically attached to a special cable pin connector on Model 8520
or Model 8560 Phones. Because the Mini-DSS Units draw power from the phone, external AC
transformers are not required. In addition, separate circuits on the DKSC-16 or DKSC-16+ are
not required.

ings beginning on page 2-107. Mini-DSS Unit dimensions are:
5.49 As stated earlier, each single DSS/BLF Unit provides one-button access to up to 16
extension numbers, trunks, features, or other resources. The numbers programmed in the but-
tons can be station extension numbers, modem extensions, hunt group numbers, trunk access
codes, or feature codes. The layout of the buttons and the numbers they access are assigned
using the Mini-DSS keymap in DB Programming. The intercom number/button assignments of
each keymap are programmed in the Model 8662/8660/8620/8560/8520 keymap.
5.50 The lamps in the buttons on the Mini-DSS function the same as they do on a DSS/BLF
Unit.
NOTE: Group Call Pick-up does not affect DSS lamp status any differently than standard hunt
group calls or individual calls.
