MANUAL VERSION 11.0 May 2008
Version 11.0 Upgrade Instructions
NOTE: Version 8.x T1Cs do not require firmware upgrades for v9.0 or later.
The IP softphone requires v1.x firmware and is not supported by IPRCs that have
v7.0.5 or later firmware. Other IP endpoints, such as the multi-protocol endpoints
require IPRCs with v8.2.0 or later firmware to support point-to-point (PPP) audio.
For these reasons, Inter-Tel recommends that you do not connect IP softphones
and other IP endpoints to the same IPRC. If you do, you may lose feature or end-
point functionality.
If implementing networking, you need a universal numbering plan.
System Manager has been updated to v1.1 for Axxess v9.0 or later. To use System
Manager for all nodes on the network, it is not necessary to upgrade all nodes to
v9.0 or later. However, the System Manager Call Processing Snap-In needs to be
upgraded to v9.0 or later. It is also recommended that you upgrade to v9.0 or later
DB Studio on the System Manger PC. (This upgrade is required if you are loading
the CA certificate through the System Manager programming interface.)
Version 9.0 or later software includes a new utility that zips all of the files in the
Freeze directory into a single file for CPS systems. This utility makes it easier to
transfer files to Technical Support for diagnostics and troubleshooting. The upper
limit on the zip utility is 2 GB. Therefore, backup or remove the Freeze file con-
tents from the CPS systems before installing the v9.000 or later CPS software.
To use v9.0 or later features on a network containing CT Gateways, Inter-Tel rec-
ommends that you upgrade all CT Gateways to v4.2. (CT Gateway versions prior
to v3.001 are incompatible with the v9.0 or later system; therefore, each CT Gate-
way must be running v3.001 or later.)
Version 9.0 or later software does not support Attendant Console version 2.0 or
earlier. Upgrade all Attendant Consoles to version 3.003.
If implementing an ATM node for the first time, you must merge the individual
node databases (using the Merge Utility), upgrade the appropriate CPU firmware,
and install the appropriate licenses. In addition, the CP Server must be running
Windows 2000. (For details about ATM installation and requirements, see page 3-
166.)
NOTE: Make sure all of the system’s baseline extensions are at default values
before merging the databases.
If running v9.0 or later software on a networked system, Inter-Tel recommends
that all other nodes be running version 7.0 or later.
NOTE: For additional information about upgrades not covered in this document, see
the latest version of the Axxess Frequently Asked Questions document available on the
edGe. For readers located in Europe, contact the Inter-Tel Europe office for technical
information.
2.
Back up and save both the system and voice mail databases. See page 6-65 for detailed
instructions.
3. Force a database backup (versions 8.0 and later only) to save the database in flash
memory.
