Version 11.0 Upgrade Instructions
10. Install the CPC or CP Server:
• If installing a CPC, flash the CPC with the new Call Processing software.
• If installing a CP Server, load the new EAC or ATM operating system available on
the edGe and add the Master security key (part no. 827.9775). If using a redundant
system, add the Backup security key (part no. 827.9776). For readers located in
Europe, contact the Inter-Tel Europe office for technical information.
NOTE: Inter-Tel recommends that you install the CPC or CP Server behind a firewall to
help prevent IP security problems.

Install the new voice processing software on the voice mail PC. If necessary, install the
new Voice Processing Unit (i.e., if the site currently has an external OS/2 unit).
12. If upgrading from v7.x or earlier, upgrade the firmware chips on DKSC-16+s (part no.
841.0382), DKSC-16 (part no. 827.9202), SLC-16 (part no. 827.9075) and OPCs (part
no. 827.9949 or 827.9950). See the Digital Keyset Card Firmware Replacement
Instructions and Options Card Firmware Replacement Instructions respectively for
details.
13. If upgrading from v7.x or earlier, upgrade the firmware on the OPCs using the appropri-
ate OPC Firmware Upgrade Kit for the country that the equipment is in. The A-Law
OPC Firmware Upgrade Kit (U.K.) part number is 828.1671, and the Mu-Law OPC
Firmware Upgrade Kit (U.S. and Japan) part number is 828.1561. You do not need to
upgrade the firmware on the OPC if you are upgrading from v8.x to v9.0 or later.
14. Upgrade the firmware on the 32-device IPRCs and networking IPRCs. If using v1.x
firmware, upgrade to v1.5.2. If using v7.x or later firmware, upgrade to v9.0.0. The new
firmware is available on the v9.0 or later software CD (part number 841.0130) or on the
edGe (www.inter-tel.com/software
). For readers located in Europe, download the firm-
ware from the Inter-Tel Europe FTP server.
NOTE: The IP softphone requires v1.x firmware and is not supported by IPRCs that
have v8.1 or later firmware.

If your IP endpoints are connected to an IPC/IPRC configured as a DKSC-16 in DB
Studio, leave the v1.5.1 firmware and PAL on the IPC/IPRC.
NOTE: Peer-to-peer audio is not supported for IP endpoints connected to an IPC/IPRC
with v1.5.1 firmware.
16.
Upgrade the firmware on IPRCs. After you have upgraded the firmware, you can
remove the PAL. Verify that the boot code is v1.x or later via OLM mode or Web inter-
face.
17. If using a CP Server, install the new CP Server software on the CP Server PC.
18. Start a DB Studio session, using a socket connection, and load the software license.
19. Under System\Devices and Feature Codes\IP Ports\PPXXX, change the IP port settings
on the CPC so that the CPC is available on the customer’s network. (If the CPC does
not have a static IP address available, view Message Print to determine the IP address
assigned by the DHCP or BOOTP server.)
