Attach Three or Four Units Together, if Necessary
D. ATTACH THREE OR FOUR UNITS TOGETHER, IF NECESSARY
8.5 To create a tri-chassis system, simply connect one dual-chassis system to a single-chas-
sis system using a fiber-optic cable between the two PCM-F cards. To create a quad-chassis
system, simply connect two dual-chassis systems together using a fiber-optic cable between the
two PCM-F cards. (See pages 2-11 and 2-12 for additional/other multiple-chassis system con-
figuration information, and see page 3-104 for the actual fiber-optic connection instructions.) If
necessary, the fiber-optic cable between the first (master) chassis and the third (slave) chassis
can be up to one kilometer (.6 miles) in length. If running version 8.0 or later, you must use a
CP Server for tri-/quad-chassis systems.
NOTE: A 8.5-foot (2.5-meter) cable is available using part no. 813.1628 (U.S.). Or, if neces-
sary, contact Inter-Tel's CommSource™ division for information on purchasing longer cable
lengths. Custom cables can also be built using industry-standard ST-type connectors.
E. WALL MOUNT THE CHASSIS, IF DESIRED
8.6 The basic or expanded chassis may be mounted on the MDF backboard as outlined in
the following steps.
NOTE: If the two portions of a tri-/quad-chassis system are installed on the same vertical plane
on the same MDF, the first (master) pair of chassis must be separated from the second (slave)
pair of chassis by at least one foot to provide proper air circulation.
1.
With the top cover removed, position the chassis on the MDF backboard and mark the
location of the top two mounting screw holes. (Be sure to allow sufficient air circulation
around the chassis.) Set the equipment chassis aside.
2. Drive a screw into the center of each mounting hole marking, allowing the heads of the
screws to protrude slightly.
NOTE: Use screws of sufficient strength to support the equipment chassis.
3.
Hang the chassis on the two screws. If necessary, adjust the screws to ensure that the
chassis is held firmly in place.
4. To further secure the chassis to the backboard, insert screws into the bottom two mount-
ing holes from inside the chassis.
