Embedded Voice Mail Card (EVMC)
O. EMBEDDED VOICE MAIL CARD (EVMC)
10.90 The Embedded Voice Mail Card (EVMC) was recently modified. Although both
EVMCs function in the same way, the available ports differ. The older EVMC has two RS232
serial ports, however, only the first RS232 port is operational at this time. The newer EVMC
has one RS232 serial port and one DB9 serial port. In addition, the newer EVMC no longer has
the Reset button, which was for development purposes only and should not be used.
EVMC Installation
10.91 To install the EVMC, see Figures 3-82 and 3-83 on pages 3-161 and 3-162 and do the
following:
1. Make sure the proper security PAL is installed in socket U23. (The PAL determines the
number of available mailboxes.)
NOTE: Currently, the 4-port EVMC is shipped with the 32-mailbox PAL.
2.
If installing a second DSPM card, attach the DSPM card in the lower socket, below the
existing DSPM card. Make sure that the connectors and the standoffs are properly
aligned and seated.
3. Insert the EVMC into slot 7 of the equipment chassis.
4. Observe the LEDs on the front of the EVMC. The LED indications are as follows. (The
left LED is labeled “CARD ON-LINE,” and the right LED is labeled “OK TO
REMOVE CARD.”)
CAUTION
When handling the EVMC be very careful not to damage the hard drive. It is sensitive to
vibration, pressure, and shock.
