MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Creating Custom Save/Restore Disks
PROGRAMMING

12.19 Note that if the message consisted of multiple segments, each segment would have a
separate base filename. For example, suppose new message 1 consists of two segments. The
first segment spans 3 disks and the second segment spans two. The message would be split into
the following files:
First disk:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.001\N0001.ENV
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.001\N0001_A-.R24
Second disk:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.002\N0001_A-.R24
Third disk:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.003\N0001_A.R24
Fourth disk:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.004\N0001_B-.R24
Last disk:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1221.END\N0001_B.R24
12.20 Similar conventions apply to continued segments for greetings, recorded names, and
saved messages, all of which can also span several diskettes.
12.21 You can combine split voice-data files into a single file by using the DOS copy com-
mand. For example, a mailbox message is split across two disks in these files:
A:\MAILBOX\MB1000.001\N0001_A-.R24
A:\MAILBOX\MB1000.END\N0001_A-.R24
12.22 You can copy the two files to the hard drive and use the + syntax to combine them, as
follows:
copy a:\mailboxbox\mb1000.00\n10001_a-.r24 c:\tmp
copy a:\mailboxbox1\mb000.end\n0001_a.r24 c:\tmp
copy c:\tmp\n0001_a-.r24+c:\tmp\n0001_a.r24
c:\tmp\n0001_a.r24
NOTE: The order of the files in the + expression is important. The copy command concate-
nates the files from left to right. Also, note that the copy command overwrites the original
n0001_a.r24 in the example above. When combining files, you can join R24-format files only
with other R24-format files and R32 format files only with other R32-format files.
