Example of a successful mapping

12.31 When you are ready to perform Voice Processor save or restore, specify the B drive as
the save/restore drive from DB Programming. You will see a warning that says “Before
AVDAP performs a save operation, it will first delete everything in the target directory includ-
ing all subdirectories inside it. Therefore, it would be a bad idea to specify C:\ as the save/
restore path as AVDAP will end up deleting the entire C: drive.” Take this warning into consid-
eration when backing up more than one item. Backing up Audiotex recordings to the B drive
will create files and folders in the target share. If a mailbox save is then done, prior to moving
the existing Audiotex data, the MB save will delete the Audiotex data.
12.32 For example, suppose a site wants to perform saves to the C:\AVDAPSV directory on
the Voice Processing PC itself (machine name VM_PC). The system administrator needs to
create a share for the C:\AVDAPSV directory. For example, the new shared directory is called
VM_SAVE. The voice mail administrator would then need to edit the file avdap.opt and add
the following line:
-map_b=\\VM_PC\VM_SAVE
12.33 To save to a directory on a different PC, the system administrator needs to create the
shared directory on the target PC, give the Voice Processing’s account read/write access to the
directory, and specify the -map_b line that refers to the target PC’s share.
CAUTION
When the Voice Processor performs a save operation, it erases files and/or directories from
the UNC_path. Therefore, be careful when specifying the save/restore path. For example,
do not specify C:\ as the save/restore path because the Voice Processor would delete the
entire C drive.
