3 FIRE PREVENTION
PREVENCIÓN CONTRA INCENDIOS
Failure to observe the following warnings may result in a fire
or machine damage. Mori Seiki is not liable for any fire
whose cause is other than a product defect.
1. When machining using coolant
• Before starting automatic operation, check the
amount of coolant in the coolant tank, and
replenish coolant if necessary. When insufficient
coolant is applied to the cutting point, the
machined part will heat up due to insufficient
cooling, and this may result in a fire.
2. When machining using flammable coolant (not
recommended)
• Do not use a flammable coolant such as oil-based
coolant, as it has high risk of a fire which may
spread to the entire machine. If a flammable
coolant is used out of necessity, any consequent
fire or accident must be dealt with as the
usersresponsibility.'
• Always monitor the machining process and do not
carry out unmanned operation. Install appropriate
automatic fire extinguishing equipment to quickly
extinguish fire at an early stage.
• Check the flash point and the ignition point of the
coolant to be used. Manage the material of the
tools and workpieces, and tool wear so that the
temperature during machining does not exceed
these points.
• When coolant becomes a mist inside the
machine, it may burn explosively in abnormal
temperature conditions. Change the coolant
discharge method so that no coolant mist
becomes suspended inside the machine, or install
equipment to collect the coolant mist generated.
• Use an explosion-proof mist collector.
• Check the instructions on coolant in the manuals
in advance, and follow them.
3. When machining without using coolant (including dry
cutting and semi-dry cutting)
• Check and manage the materials of the tools and
workpieces to be used to prevent fire due to heat
generated in the machining process.

ocasionados por una causa que no sea un fallo del
producto.
1. Operación de mecanizado combinando el uso de
refrigerante
• Antes de iniciar el funcionamiento automático
compruebe la cantidad de refrigerante que hay
en el depósito y proceda a su reposición en caso
necesario. Cuando se aplica una cantidad
insuficiente de refrigerante al punto de corte, la
máquina puede calentarse debido a la
insuficiente refrigeración y esto puede causar un
incendio.
2. Operación de mecanizado combinando el uso de un
refrigerante inflamable (no recomendado)
• No use refrigerante inflamable como el
refrigerante a base de aceite, ya que existe un
alto riesgo de incendio que puede extenderse por
toda la máquina. Si se usa de forma innecesaria
un refrigerante inflamable, el posible fuego o
accidente se considerará responsabilidad del
usuario.
• Vigile siempre el proceso de mecanización y no
lleve a cabo operaciones automáticas y sin
supervisión humana. Instale un sistema
automático de extinción de incendios adecuado
para detener la combustión rápidamente.
• Compruebe las temperaturas de inflamación y
combustión del refrigerante que se desea
emplear. Controle el material de las
herramientas y de las piezas, así como el
desgaste de las herramientas, ya que la
temperatura durante el mecanizado no debe
exceder esos niveles.
• Cuando el refrigerante se evapora en el interior
de la máquina puede explotar en condiciones
anómalas de temperatura. Cambie el método de
aplicación del refrigerante, de forma que sus
emanaciones no permanezcan en suspensión en
el interior de la máquina, o instale un sistema
para absorber el vapor del refrigerante generado.
• Use un colector de neblina antideflagrante.
• Lea previamente los manuales de uso del
refrigerante y siga las instrucciones.
3. Operación de mecanizado sin refrigerante (incluyendo
cortes secos y semi secos)
• Compruebe y controle los materiales de las
herramientas y de las piezas que se usarán. Así
podrá prevenir incendios causados por el
calentamiento generado en el proceso de
mecanizado.
