F. STATION CIRCUIT CARDS
4.84 Station instruments are connected to station circuit cards in the equipment chassis. Digi-
tal phones are connected directly to Digital Keyset Cards (DKSCs) and/or 16-Port Digital Key-
set Cards (DKSC-16s or DKSC-16+s). Analog phones are connected directly to Analog Keyset
Cards (AKSCs). Executone IDS and Wave phones are connected directory to Executone Key-
set Cards (EKSCs). Industry-standard single-line DTMF or pulse-tone sets and playback
devices (AC-ringing instruments only) are connected directly to Single-Line Cards (SLCs)
and/or 16-Port Single-Line Cards (SLC-16s or SLC-16+s) or indirectly to DKSCs/DKSC-16s
through Single-Line Adapters (SLAs). Version 2.x or later software is required for pulse-tone
sets.
NOTE: At least one keyset card should be installed to provide a display phone to an adminis-
trator who can receive system alarm messages, program system data, etc.
4.85 The following information is described in this section:
• Station Circuit and Extension Numbers (see below)
• Digital Keyset Cards—DKSC/DKSC-16/DKSC-16+ (see page 2-38)
• Single-Line Adapter—SLA (see page 2-39)
• Analog Keyset Card—AKSC (see page 2-40)
• Executone Keyset Card—EKSC (see page 2-40)
• Single-Line Card—SLC (see page 2-41)
• 16-Port Single-Line Card—SLC-16/SLC-16+ (see page 2-42)
Station Circuit and Extension Numbers
4.86 Each station card circuit is assigned an eight-digit hardware address number
(WW.XX.YY.ZZ) according to the node (WW), the card’s slot in the equipment chassis (XX =
01-07 or 09-15), the location of the circuit on the card (YY = 01-08), and whether or not the
circuit has more than one purpose (ZZ = 01-03). For example, circuit 01.01.02.01 is the second
circuit on the first card installed in the chassis (Node 1). The first two numbers of the hardware
address depict the node number.
4.87 In some circumstances, a station circuit can have more than one purpose. For example,
two single-line devices can be installed on a single DKSC or DKSC-16 circuit. The first device
is assigned circuit number WW.XX.YY.01, and the second device is assigned circuit number
WW.XX.YY.02. Similarly, a phone’s PC Data Port Module and Modem Data Port Module can
be assigned their own circuit numbers. In this case, the phone is assigned circuit number
WW.XX.YY.01, the first data port is assigned number WW.XX.YY.02, and the second data
port is assigned number WW.XX.YY.03.
CAUTION
Do not install a Professional, Associate, or Eclipse Basic Phone on an Executone Keyset
Card (EKSC) or Executone IDS devices on a Digital Keyset Card (DKSC). Installing a phone
on the wrong type of station card can damage both the phone and the card.
