Timers
4.259 (European systems only) The phone system now supports the transmission of CLIP to
single-line sets in Europe. This feature uses the calling party information that the system cabi-
net receives from the local network provider. After programmed, on-hook single-line sets dis-
play the calling party’s information when receiving an incoming outside call. The CLIP
information is also displayed if the single-line set receives a transferred call from another sta-
tion that has calling party information.
NOTE: CLIP is not transmitted to single-line adapters (SLAs).
4.260 Because Caller ID transmitters are required to send the information to the single-line
set, you must upgrade the firmware on a 16-port Digital Keyset Card (DKSC-16+) that has an
available Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Each DSP on a DKSC-16+ provides four Caller ID
transmitters. (The Call Processing Card does not support Caller ID transmitters.) In addition,
you must install the new SLC-16+. If you do not install the new SLC-16+, single-line sets will
not support CLIP, even if there are available DSP resources.
4.261 To use CLIP for single-line sets, you must enable the Caller ID flag (System\Devices
and Feature Codes\Stations\Local\<Single-Line extension>\Flags). You must also program the
following timers:
• Caller ID Line Reversal Timer: Enter the number of milliseconds that the system
reverses the line polarity so that the single-line set can receive Caller ID information.
This value may differ for various phones. The valid range is 0 - 200 ms, and the default
is 30 ms.
• Caller ID Alerting Tone Timer: Enter the number of milliseconds that the system will
send Caller ID alert tones to the single-line set. These tones are not audible to the end
user and are used strictly to notify the phone that information will be transmitted. This
value may differ for various phones. The valid range is 88 - 110 ms, and the default is
100 ms.
