PROGRAMMING

Communication Timeout
4.364 (MGCP gateways only) The Communication Timeout field specifies the number of sec-
onds that the gateway will wait for an acknowledgement from an associated endpoint before it
considers the endpoint offline. To change the number of seconds, click the current Value and
use the scroll box to select the new value. Then press
ENTER or click another field to save the
change. The valid range is 3-300, and the default is 15.
Manufacturer
4.365 (MGCP gateways only) The Manufacturer setting identifies the brand of the MGCP
gateway that is connected to the phone system. Your options are None and Audiocodes MP10X.
To change the brand, click the current Value and use the drop-down box to make your selec-
tion. Then press
ENTER or click another field to save the change. By default, this is Audio-
codes MP10X.
Gateway Name and Endpoint Name
4.366 (MGCP gateways and endpoints only) These fields display the names that were
assigned to the gateway and associated endpoint when the circuits were programmed (see
page 6-151). If desired, you can change the names here. To change a name, click the current
Value. The Edit Gateway (or Endpoint) Name dialog box appears. Enter a new name, up to 18
characters, that identifies the gateway or endpoint on the network. Then click
OK.
Associated Gateway
4.367 (MGCP endpoints only) The Associated Gateway field displays the MGCP gateway to
which the MGCP endpoint is connected. If a gateway was not assigned when the circuit was
programmed, this defaults to the first gateway on the IPRC. To change the associated gateway,
right-click the current extension and select
Change Associated Gateway. Then select MGCP
Gateway and Endpoint and click
Next. In the next dialog box, select the desired gateway and
click
Finish. If you know the trunk extension for the associated gateway, you can click the cur-
rent Value and enter the extension instead of having to use the dialog boxes. Then press
ENTER or click another field to save the change.
Service Type
4.368 (For the U.S.) This cannot be programmed unless the Advanced CO Interfaces premium
feature is licensed (see page 6-97). Also, caller information features require OPC program-
ming, described on page 6-117.) Available service types are determined by the type of trunk
being programmed, as described below. To set the Service Type select the current Value and
scroll to the desired option. Then press
ENTER or click outside the field to save your change.
Loop Start: Loop start trunks can use Caller ID [CLIP]. When selected, the Caller ID
[CLIP] service type option indicates that the associated trunk will provide caller identi-
fication signals. Because the central office sends the information after the first cycle of
ring voltage is applied, selecting this box will also prevent the system from signaling an
incoming call to the station users until the system has had an opportunity to collect the
caller information. (Note that the system will provide ring signaling on the second ring
signal if no caller information has been collected.) Caller ID [CLIP] uses Caller ID
[CLIP] receivers.
E&M and DID: E&M and DID trunks can use DID, ANI, and DNIS. Because DTMF
receivers are required to receive DID and ANI information, you should enable addi-
tional receivers.
Ground Start: Ground start trunks do not support any of the caller information service
types.
