MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Internet Protocol Resources Card
PROGRAMMING
6
3.147 To program the circuits for MGCP gateways and endpoints:
NOTE: You must program an MGCP gateway before you can program an MGCP endpoint.
1. Under System\Cabinets\Internet Protocol Resource Card, expand the Devices folder.
2. Highlight the circuits to program, right-click, and select Batch Change Type.
3. Select MGCP Gateway and Endpoint and click OK.
4. Select the starting extension for the gateway and endpoints.
5. Enter a name, up to 18 characters, that identifies the gateway on the network. If you are
batch creating more than one gateway, each gateway is automatically assigned the base
name followed by the port number. For example, if you are batch creating three gate-
ways with a base name of MGCPGW, the gateway in the first port is assigned the name
MGCPGW01; the second is assigned MGCPGW02; etc. Each gateway on the IPRC
must have a unique name, and each name is case-sensitive.
6. Click the endpoint associated with the first port on the gateway and enter a unique end-
point name, up to 20 characters. Inter-Tel recommends that you use a naming conven-
tion to avoid resolution problems. By default, the endpoints are named ACgwX, where
X is a number (0-3) that identifies the port. For example, the endpoint in the first port is
ACgw0; the endpoint in the second port is ACgw1; etc. Each endpoint must have a
unique name, and each name is case-sensitive.
NOTE: The endpoint and gateway names entered in DB Programming must match
those programmed in the gateway configuration. For details, refer to the Inter-Tel
Axxess/5000 Quintum SIP Gateway Installation Manual (document part no. 835.3123)
or the Inter-Tel Axxess/5000 AudioCodes MP-114 SIP Gateway Installation Manual
(document part no. 835.3202).
7.
Click OK to accept the endpoint name.
8. Assign up to three additional endpoints to the gateway and program the endpoint
names.
9. Click OK to exit the screen.
NOTE: If you unequip an MGCP gateway (i.e., change the circuit value to None), any
MGCP endpoints assigned to that gateway are automatically unequipped.
CAUTION
Inter-Tel recommends that you install an MGCP gateway and its associated endpoints on
one node only. Installing an MGCP gateway and its endpoints on more than one node may
lead to undesired results.
