24. INTER-TEL CALL PROCESSING SERVICE UPDATE
24.1 To update the Inter-Tel Call Processing service, if necessary:
1. Perform a database save.
NOTE: Reset and exception log data are lost between updates. If maintaining this
information is necessary, perform a system freeze prior to stopping the service. The
freeze will have the latest exception and reset log data in it. Copy those files for safe-
keeping.
2.
Install the new software.
3. Set the Software Watchdog service to “automatic.”
4. Perform a database restore.
25. INSTALL INTER-TEL CP SERVER SOFTWARE
NOTE: Installation software is included on the Inter-Tel CP Server CD-ROM.
25.1 To install Inter-Tel CP Server software:
1. Run the setup file located in the CP Server PC Software folder.
2. Install the software to the default location (C:\ICP).
NOTE: If the C: drive is not formatted, cancel the installation and format the drive.
3. If you plan on using SNMP, review the SNMP section of this document (see page C-40)
prior to selecting
Yes when prompted to install SNMP. Otherwise, select No to con-
tinue. (You can add the SNMP option later by re-installing the Inter-Tel CP Server soft-
ware.)
4. Select either AIC card or PCI Watchdog when prompted to select the watchdog hard-
ware device, if using a PC supplied by Inter-Tel. If using a customer-provided PC,
choose the appropriate device.
5. Set the listening socket to 0.0.0.0 while in the ICP Configuration Utility screen. This
value allows listening on the installed NIC(s).
CAUTION
When the software is installed or upgraded, the Software Watchdog service is set
for “manual” startup by default. It is very important for you to change the startup
type to “automatic” after the new software is installed and is working properly.
