APPENDICES
6. Temporarily install the EVMC in slot 6 of the chassis (Or any slot that has a vacant
space to the right, to allow room for the floppy ribbon cable. The slot you choose does
not need to be programmed for an EVMC for this to work properly.)
7. Attach the monitor to the 15-pin connector on the front of the EVMC. Then, plug in the
monitor’s AC power cord and turn on the monitor’s AC power switch.
8. Attach the keyboard to the keyboard connector on the front of the EVMC.
9. After some initial power-up information, the monitor eventually displays “Waiting 5
seconds. Press
ESC to escape to the command line.” Press ESC before the five seconds
expire.
10. A flashing prompt will show “Shutting down in 5 seconds.” Press ESC before the five
seconds expire. The monitor displays the OS/2 command prompt “[OS/2 C:\AVDAP]”.
NOTE: If you miss this five-second opportunity let the EVMC power up all the way up
and then press the POWER DOWN button on the EVMC Card. Wait until you see “Wait-
ing 5 seconds. Press <ESC> to escape to the command line.” Then press ESC on your
keyboard. The monitor displays the OS/2 command prompt “[OS/2 C:\AVDAP]”.
11.
Insert the EVMC Software Disk 1 in the PC’s floppy disk drive.
NOTE: All disks must be installed. For optional secondary language voice prompts,
additional disks will also be required.
12.
At the [OS/2 C:\AVDAP] command prompt, enter “a:setup” and press ENTER. Then
follow the installation instructions displayed on the monitor.
13. To install secondary language prompts: Insert the Secondary Language Disk 1 in the
PC’s floppy disk drive. At the [OS/2 C:\AVDAP] command prompt, enter “a:pmtinst”
and press
ENTER. Then follow the installation instructions displayed on the monitor.
NOTE: All five language disks must be installed.
14.
When the installation is complete, remove the last disk.
15. Shut down the EVMC by using a small object to press the Power Down button on the
front edge of the card (see illustration on page D-22 for its location). The EVMC will
go through a shutdown process and the “OK To Remove Card” LED will flash. When
shutdown is complete, the LED will be solidly lit.
NOTE: When the “OK To Remove Card” LED turns green, it is safe to remove the
EVMC from the chassis for the next 10 seconds. If you do not remove the card within
that amount of time, allow the card to reboot and wait for the “Card On-Line” LED to
light. Then you can repeat the shutdown process and remove the EVMC.
16.
Remove the EVMC and disconnect the floppy drive.
17. Re-install the EVMC. The EVMC will reboot automatically when placed in the equip-
ment chassis and the “Card On-Line” LED will light.
18. Program the Voice Processing Unit as described in PROGRAMMING.
