10.78 Although the v9.0.0 IPRC supports both IP devices and networking, the physical com-
ponents of the card have not changed for v9.0. The original IPRC has two serial ports (see Fig-
ure 3-78) while the newer IPRC has one (see Figure 3-79). The daughter card can attach to
either IPRC. In addition, the v8.x or later firmware IPRC does not use PALs to determine the
number of ports it supports. Instead, it relies on the software license.
10.79 This section details the procedures for installing a v9.0.0 IPRC, which supports both
networking and IP devices on the same card.
10.80 To install the IPRC:
1. If you plan to use one or more VoIP resources for private networking, verify that the
software license supports the IP Networking premium feature. Systems running 7.0 or
earlier software also require the networking PAL. Versions 8.0 and later do not require
this PAL.
2. If using a v1.x firmware IPRC, make sure the appropriate PAL is installed on the IPRC.
The IPRC provides up to 16 ports, and the IPRC-D provides up to an additional 16
ports (32 ports total), depending on the PAL. The available networking PALs are pro-
vided in the following table.
If using a v8.x or later firmware IPRC, make sure the appropriate software license is
loaded. The available software licenses are provided in the following table.
