IPRC Firmware Upgrade (Version 1.x Firmware to Version 8.2 or Later Firmware)
10.84 You can upgrade any existing v1.x firmware IPRC to an IPRC with v8.2 or later firm-
ware. If IP SoftPhones terminate at the IPRC, however, you should not upgrade the card. IP
SoftPhones require v1.x firmware and do not support version 8.1 firmware.
NOTE: The new v9.0.0 IPRC firmware replaces the existing v8.2.0 firmware.
10.85 Because the programming for the IPRCs has moved from the Web pages to DB Pro-
gramming, it is important that you have a copy of the v1.x IPRC programming. Before you
upgrade the IPRC, save the IPRC database and use its Web pages as a reference while entering
the device information in DB Programming. You can also print the v1.x IPRC Web pages that
contain the current IPRC and device programming information.
10.86 To upgrade a v1.x firmware IPRC to a v8.2 or later firmware IPRC:
1. Make sure the software license supports the number of multi-protocol endpoints that
terminate on the IPRC.
2. Make sure the IPRC does not reside behind a firewall or NAT.
3. From the IPRC Web page, save the existing database in the event it needs to be
restored. This is stored as a .txt file.
4. Remove the card from the chassis and remove the PAL (located in slot U22).
5. If necessary, install the daughter card.
6. Place the card in the correct slot in the chassis.
7. Run the Upload Utility and upload the 8.1 or later firmware to the IPRC and the IP
devices that terminate at the card.
8. Under System\Cabinets, change the card type to Internet Protocol Resource Card.
9. Under System\Cabinets\<IPRC>, program the card settings using the settings saved
from the Web page as a guide. (See step 3.)
10. Under System\Cabinets\<IPRC>\Devices, program the IP devices, using the settings
saved from the Web page as a guide. (See step 3.)
10.87 You can now program the IP devices to terminate at the card (see page 6-147).
NOTICE
Inter-Tel recommends that you upgrade the firmware on the IP endpoints BEFORE you
upgrade the IPRC. If you upgrade the IPRC first, the endpoints cannot connect to the IPRC,
but they continuously try. During these connection attempts, the Upload Utility cannot con-
nect with the endpoints.
