11.8 After you have ensured the ATM Switch is programmed correctly, you can connect the
chassis together via the ATM Switch to form a large capacity node. See page 2-9 for details
about connector locations.

11.9 To program an ASX-200BX switch from default:
1. Establish a terminal session on the serial port and access the root menu (see steps 1-5 in
the previous section).
2. At the root menu, type system and press ENTER.
3. Type startup and press ENTER. The screen displays a welcome message.
4. Answer the following questions as indicated.
What name do you want to give the switch? [Node X ATM SWITCH]
Type ICP ATM SWITCH and press
ENTER.
What is this switch’s software license key? [Base]
Press
ENTER. The switch responds with “The software license remains unchanged.”
IP interface to configure (none, lane, ethernet) [ethernet]:
Type lane and press
ENTER.
What IP address do you want to give the switch?
Type 192.168.200.204 and press
ENTER.
And what network mask?
Type 255.255.255.0 and press
ENTER. The switch responds with “The switch now
has IP address 192.168.200.204 with mask 255.255.255.0 on el0.”
What is the address for the gateway router?
Press
ENTER to select none. The switch responds with “Gateway has not been set. Con-
tinuing...”
Configure Domain Name System (DNS) service? (yes, no) [yes]
Type no and press
ENTER.
Would you like to select a new password? (yes, no) [no]
Type yes and press
ENTER.
Enter the new password:
Type attitude and press
ENTER. The switch does not echo any characters.
Please enter it again:
Type attitude and press
ENTER. The switch does not echo any characters, but it
responds with “The password has been changed.”
Configure SNMPv1/v2? (yes, no) [yes]
Type no and press
ENTER.
Configure SNMPv3? (yes, no) [no]
Press
ENTER.
Configure SNMP event logging station? (yes, no) [yes]
