address of your host first. Otherwise, you will lose IP connectivity to the switch)? (yes,

Depending on the previous ELAN settings, the following prompt may be displayed:
Would you like to configure LAN Emulation services on this switch? (yes, no) [no]
If this prompt appears, type yes and press
ENTER. The switch responds with a few
lines of text, including notices and warnings, followed by “Your switch has now been
configured.” You are returned to the command prompt.
11.10 If desired, you can connect the switch to a LAN using the Ethernet port. You can then
assign an IP address to this port so that you can program the switch remotely.
NOTE: Inter-Tel recommends that you use a static IP address for the Ethernet port. Consult the
customer’s network administrator for IP address, gateway, and subnet mask information.
11.11 To program the Ethernet port for an ASX-200BX switch:
1. Establish a terminal session on the serial port and access the root menu (see steps 1-5
under “Defaulting the Switch”).
2. At the root menu, type system and press ENTER.
3. Type startup and press ENTER. The screen displays a welcome message.
4. Answer the following questions as indicated.
What name do you want to give the switch? [Node X ATM SWITCH]
Type ICP ATM SWITCH and press
ENTER.
What is this switch’s software license key? [Base]
Press
ENTER. The switch responds with “The software license remains unchanged.”
IP interface to configure (none, lane, ethernet) [ethernet]:
Press
ENTER.
What IP address do you want to give the switch?
Type the IP address to assign to the port and press
ENTER.
And what network mask?
Type the subnet mask for the port and press
ENTER.
What is the address for the gateway router?
Press
ENTER to select none. The switch responds with “Gateway has not been set. Con-
tinuing...”
CAUTION
Security is the responsibility of the customer’s network administrator. Inter-Tel is not respon-
sible for network problems due to security violations involving the IP address exposure of
the ATM switch. This includes, but is not limited to, toll fraud and interrupted network ser-
vice.
