Uploading T1/E1/BRU/BRS Cards
E. UPLOADING T1/E1/BRU/BRS CARDS
1. Connect a programming PC to the card’s serial port jack.
2. Click New or select New from the File menu to create an entry.
3. Enter a description, up to 40 characters, in the Settings For field that allows you to
identify the connection type. For example, if creating a setting for the BRU Card on
node 2, slot 7, enter Node 2 BRU slot 7.
4. Select T1/E1/BRU/BRS as the Board type.
5. Enter the appropriate upload source file name in the File box or use the Browse button
to locate the file (the file ends with “.ss”). The file name usually depicts the connection
type (T1 vs. E1), the country, and the version of the system. For example,
t1_us6_0.ss indicates the file required for a T1 Card that is running version 6.0 for
the U.S. Make sure the complete file name appears in the box.
6. Set the proper “Port” and “Speed” for the programming PC.
7. Click Start (or select Start from the File menu).
8. When the software is fully loaded, the card is ready for use.
12.3 Uploading the Boot Code: The boot code controls the upload process. The boot code is
the first code that runs on the card when it’s powered up, then the control of the card is passed
to the card specific code.
12.4 The boot code is provided with the BRS and BRU upload files (Boot.ss) and should
only be uploaded if the board is not functioning or is having problems uploading the BRS.ss or
BRU.ss upload files. The Boot.ss file for the T1/E1 card is different from the Boot.ss file that
comes with the BRS and BRU cards. Therefore, be careful not to copy over the files.
12.5 Uploading the boot.ss file on the BRS or BRU card:
The write protect jumper (J4) must be installed over the top two pins (program posi-
tion). See Figures 3-63 and 3-64 on pages 3-133 and 3-134. Then using the Board Util-
ity, upload the boot.ss file.
NOTE: Use the DBRD (Display Board Information) command to verify software ver-
sions on the BRU and BRS cards. For more details, refer to the ISDN Troubleshooting
Manual.
