INSTALLATION
3
10. To supply the first eight audio interface ports (e.g., dedicated system voice channels) to
the Voice Processing PC, attach one end of the AIC-to-CPU/OPC interface cable (sup-
plied with the PC) to the DB15 PCM connector on the CPC or CPU card. Attach the
other end of the cable to the first DB15 PCM connector (J7) on the AIC (see Figure 3-
97 on page 3-221).
NOTE: The right-angle connector end of the cable attaches to the CPC or CPU card.
The straight-in connector end of the cable attaches to the AIC. Also, the slide latch on
the end of the right-angle connector can be used to lock the cable to the card.
11.
For an additional 4-24 (or 32) ports (voice channels), attach one end of a second AIC-
to-CPU/OPC interface cable (supplied with 12-port or higher PCs) to the DB15 PCM
connector on the Options Card. Attach the other end of the cable to the second DB15
PCM connector (J8) on the AIC (see Figure 3-97 on page 3-221). For an ATM-based
system, the first chassis must host the OPC to use the remaining 32 ports.
NOTE: The Voice Processing Unit is required to support 40 ports.
ALSO: The Options Card must be configured to have a Voice Processing connection.
See PROGRAMMING, page 6-117.
12.
Use the slide latch on the end of the right-angle connector to lock the cable to the card.
13. Connect the power cable according to the PC manufacturer’s instructions and turn on
the Voice Processing PC’s AC power switch.
NOTE: For optimal performance, the Voice Processing PC is configured with turbo
mode always enabled. Do not disable the turbo mode setting.
14.11 If you have any problems with Windows recognizing the Fax card, follow these trouble-
shooting steps:
• The IRQ should be set to 9 and the I/O address should be set to 320. Make sure that
there are no IRQ or I/O conflicts.
• For Windows NT-based VPUs: In Control Panel, select
Services. The faxinit service
should be set to
automatic. Then select Devices from the Control Panel. The bfax
device should be set to
automatic and started.
For Windows 2000-based VPUs: In Control Panel, select
Administrative Tools then
Services. The faxinit service should be set to automatic. Then, under Administrative
Tools, select
Computer Management. Go to Device Manager, from the View menu on
top, select
show hidden devices. From there expand Non-plug and play drivers. The
bfax device should be set to automatic and started.
• If the driver is installed correctly, after a system restart, there should be a faxinit.log file
in the \winnt\bfax directory. It indicates how many fax ports were detected.
• If the driver is not installed correctly, uninstall the fax driver (from the \avdap\driv-
ers\brooktrt\install directory type install -r < uninstall.rsp), remove and re-install the
fax card, then reinstall the driver (install < install.rsp). Restart the system; the system
should be able to detect the fax card.
• If using the Unified Messaging feature, the Voice Processing PC must have a security
key attached to the parallel port. See page 4-67 for more information on the security
keys.
