Fax-On-Demand Setup

VOICE
PROCESSING
6.7 Fax documents can be saved and restored using the Voice Processing Save And Restore
database program. The system Save And Restore operation has no effect on fax documents.
However, if the system database is defaulted, all fax documents are deleted.
6.8 The digit translation node used for fax document selection should have a greeting that
explains how to select documents. For example, it can say something like, “Welcome to Fax-
On-Demand. For a product list, press 1. For a price list, press 2. When you have made your
selections, press # to continue. Or, to cancel your selections, press *.” Or, you can use a series
of digit translation nodes that break the document selection into categories and/or allow callers
to dial individual document numbers. If fax delivery times are set to specific days or times, the
introductory recording should also include this information.
6.9 Note that the Fax-On-Demand feature with a U.S. system uses User Group 1 and the
Home Area Code for toll restriction information. Ensure that these are programmed correctly
for outgoing fax delivery calls. Also ensure that the Message Notification/Retrieval application
has the appropriate trunk access for placing outside calls.
B. FAX-ON-DEMAND SETUP
6.10 To set up Fax-On-Demand on an Inter-Tel system:
1. Fax card installation: Make sure the Fax card is installed in the Voice Processing PC,
the DIP switches are set correctly, and the card is connected to the AIC-to-VP ribbon
cable.
2. Program Fax-On-Demand Library Size: In Fax-On-Demand Programming, set the
Maximum Fax-On-Demand Library Size to an appropriate number. (You adjust the
other settings later.)
3. Import documents: Using the System Administrators mailbox and a fax machine,
import the documents that are used by the Fax-On-Demand feature. (See page 4-61 for
instructions.) The first document should contain your logo. The second document
should be a list of available documents that callers can use as an index. Make note of
the numbers assigned to each of the documents.
4. Program the document details: In Fax-On-Demand Programming, view the list of fax
documents you have just created. Give each document a short description and a detailed
description. If you need to renumber them to match the index document, do it now.
5. Configure the Fax-On-Demand feature: In Fax-On-Demand Programming, set the
Allow International Calls flag, Start/Stop Time, days of the week, Outgoing Access,
Format - Local Fax ID, Format - Company Name, and Format - Logo Document num-
ber to the proper settings.
6. Set the miscellaneous information: In Fax-On-Demand Programming, set the timers
to the appropriate settings for your installation.
7. Program the Message Notification/Retrieval application: If you have not already
done so, create a Message Notification/Retrieval application. Then, in Trunk Group
Programming, ensure it has access to an outgoing trunk group. If desired, you can set
toll restrictions for it in Voice Processor - Devices - Applications - Class of Services.
