MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
System Capacities
• Model 8602 IP Softphone: Model 8602 is a new IP softphone that operates like a
Model 8662 multi-protocol endpoint and supports Inter-Tel Protocol (ITP) mode on a
PC. It requires system software v9.1 or later and IPRC firmware v9.0.0 or later. For
details, see the latest IP Devices Manual (document part no. 835.2195).
• Pocket PC SoftPhone: Model 8601 is a software-based SIP softphone that runs on
selected Pocket PC 2002 (or later) Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) platforms. For
information about installation and programming, refer to the Model 8601 Installation
Manual.
• Wireless Endpoints: Models 8664, 8665, and 8668 are wireless, compact telephones
that use ITP. For details, refer to the SVP Server and Model 8664/8665 Installation
Manual (part no. 935.4521).
• Analog Phones: IMX, Inter-Tel/DVK, GMX, and ESP analog phones in increments of
up to eight or 16, depending on the number of Analog Keyset Cards (AKSCs) installed
in the chassis.
NOTE: At least one phone circuit should be equipped with a display phone to allow an
attendant/administrator to program selected system data, act as the attendant for unsu-
pervised CO/local exchange recalls, receive system alarm messages, etc.
• Single-Line Sets: Various types of single-line sets in increments of up to eight or six-
teen, depending on the number of Single-Line Cards (SLCs) installed in the chassis. If
desired, single-line sets can also be attached to digital phone circuits that are equipped
with optional Single-Line Adapters (SLAs).
• Digital Direct Station Selection/Busy Lamp Field (DSS/BLF) Units: Up to 5 phones
may be equipped with up to 4 DSS/BLF Units each or up to 20 phones may be
equipped with single DSS/BLF Units, or any combination of these up to 20 total units.
Because each unit is powered by an AC transformer, the units do not require a DKSC or
DKSC-16 circuit that is separate from the phone.
• DSS Consoles:
NOTE: The following DSS consoles are supported by U.S. software only.
— With Executone IDS Phones: IDS phones can be equipped with up to three 48-key
DSS Consoles. There can be a total of 80 IDS 48-key DSS Consoles on the sys-
tem. Each 48-key DSS Console requires an EKSC circuit.
— With Professional and Associate Display Phones: PCDPM-equipped Professional
and Associate Display Phones may be connected to up to four 60-key DSS/BLF
Consoles. There can a total of 20 of these 60-key DSS/BLF Consoles on the sys-
tem. Because each unit is powered by an AC transformer and is connected to the
phone’s PCDPM, the 60-key DSS/BLF Consoles do not require a DKSC or
DKSC-16/DKSC-16+ circuit that is separate from the phone.
