E. IP CONNECTIONS AND IP CONNECTION GROUPS
19.8 IP Connections: Contain the programming information for each IP connection in the
network. The extensions associated with each connection are automatically added to this folder
when local or remote IP connections are created. Programmable information for each connec-
tion includes IP addresses, gateway addresses, subnet masks, backplane configurations, etc.
See page 6-172 for details.
19.9 Node IP Connection Groups: Correspond to an IP network connection between the
remote node and the local node. Node IP Connection Groups are automatically added for each
remote node created. Programmable information for each Node IP Connection Group includes
IP call configurations, emergency outgoing access lists, outgoing access lists, etc. See page 6-
185 for details.
F. QOS (QUALITY OF SERVICE)
19.10 The system sets the ToS (Type of Service) bits in the IP packet headers to aid the net-
work in implementing QoS. The system uses the Audio RTP Type of Service and Data Type of
Service flags (see page 6-174) to set the appropriate ToS bits in the header.
G. AUDIO CONNECTIONS TO IP DEVICES
19.11 The system recognizes that both IP phones and voice resources on IPRCs configured
for private networking require different audio connection parameters than other devices in the
system.
NOTE: When using the networking feature in systems running software version 7.0 and later,
to avoid intermittent one-way audio, do not use two IPRCs on separate networks.
19.12 The affected connection parameters include:
• Gain Values: For the purpose of gain adjustment, the system now recognizes IP phones
and IP connections as IP devices and adjusts the gain settings accordingly.
• Enhanced Speakerphone Mode: When a phone connects to an IP phone or to a voice
resource on an IPRC, the system does not allow the phone to enter enhanced speaker-
phone mode. Enhanced speakerphone mode does not function properly when the audio
travels over an IP network.
NOTE: Sometimes the system may not detect that a call is connected over an IP network. If
this occurs, the system may allow users to enable enhanced speakerphone mode, which will
affect the call quality.
H. DTMF CONFIGURATION
NOTE: To configure DTMF detection, IPRC firmware version 8.2.0 or later and Call Process-
ing v8.224 or later is required.
19.13 You can program each IPRC to use a specific set of values that affect DTMF detection.
This configuration allows you to make the system more or less sensitive to DTMF tones,
which ultimately affects the amount of talkoff. (In general, the more sensitive the system is to
DTMF tones, the more likely talkoff is to occur.) For details about configuring the DTMF set-
ting, see page 6-154.
