MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
CPU Design Features
• Music Jack: Connects an external music source (such as a radio, tape player, etc.) that
can be heard by callers when they are placed on hold or camped on. It may also be used
for phone background music. This is an 1/8-inch (3-mm), two-conductor (mono), mini-
phone jack. For installation instructions, see page 3-237. In DB Programming, music
can be enabled or disabled, and each trunk group (as well as transfer audio) can be
assigned music, silence, or tick-tones. See page 6-234 in PROGRAMMING.
NOTE: In tri-/quad-chassis installations, the music jack on the slave PCM-F card can
also be used to provide an additional music-on-hold music source (but it cannot be
used for background music).
• Relay Jack: (6-pin, 6-conductor modular jack or line jack unit) Currently used for
power failure transfer equipment only. A power failure transfer jack can be used for
connecting one or more single-line sets to predetermined CO [local exchange in
Europe] trunks in the event of processor card failure or a power failure. The output is
one normally-open (deactivated) double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) relay (actually
wired as SPDT) that is held closed (activated) during system operation. Additional
equipment needed includes a customer-provided PFT relay card and card mounting
case. The relay contact ratings are listed below. (See page 2-103 for additional require-
ments.)
• Real-Time Clock: Provides more accurate date and time function.
• External Paging Jack: (RCA-type phono jack with an output impedance of 600 ohms
– one in single-/dual-chassis systems, two in tri-/quad-chassis systems, four in eight-
chassis ATM systems) Connects external paging speaker equipment to allow paging to
large areas, such as warehouses or loading docks. For installation instructions, see
page 3-239.
NOTE: Some older CPU128 cards do not have a paging port.
• Network Clock Circuitry: (CPU020/PCM or CPU020/PCMA Only) Provides the
smooth, error-free clock transitions required for T1 or E1/PRI applications. If any T1 or
E1/PRI cards are installed in the chassis, the network clock circuitry provides the clock
function for the entire system.
NOTE: The following four system resources are provided by the single Digital Signal
Processor (DSP) on the CPU card. For additional and/or other system resources, one
or more Options Cards (with up to four DSPs each) may be installed in the chassis. Tri-
chassis and quad-chassis systems have double the resources listed below.
CPU Card Relay Contact Ratings
0.6A at 125VAC
0.6A at 110VDC
2.0A at 30VDC
CAUTION
Do not use a Network Clock Card (NCC) with the CPU020/PCM (including EAC
CPUs) or CPU020/PCMA cards. Using an NCC with these cards causes erratic prob-
lems which may disable the system. The NCC is used for the CPU64 and CPU128
only.
