MANUAL VERSION 11.0 – May 2008
Trunks
NOTE: For this feature to work properly, both the incoming (B-channel trunk) and outgoing
(non-T1 Loop Start trunk) sides of the trunk-to-trunk call have to have this flag enabled (Yes).
For non-T1 Loop Start trunks, this flag is available only when the answer supervision is set to
“Polarity Reversal” or “Valid Call Timer with Polarity Reversal.”
Hybrid Balance
4.375 (LSC Analog Loop Start, LGC Ground Start, and MGCP trunks only) Hybrid balance
can be set to Normal or Short to allow the installer to adjust the hybrid impedance of the trunk
based on local central office (or local exchange) conditions. To set the Hybrid Balance select
the current Value and scroll to the desired option. Then press
ENTER or click outside the field
to save your change.
Short: The short balance is used when trunks are supplied by other equipment located
within the same building, using private, copper wire termination (e.g., an OPX supplied
by another PBX that does not use the public network) or when the site is located close
to the central office [local exchange].
Normal: The normal balance can be used by most trunks.
NOTE: (Loop/Ground Start trunks only) In version 10.0 or later system you can use the Hybrid
Balance Test feature to verify loop/ground start trunk characteristics and to determine the Opti-
mal Hybrid Balance Setting for each CO trunk port interface. See “Run a Hybrid Balance Test”
on page 6-246 for details.
Measured Echo Return Loss (ERL)
4.376 This read-only value is the “Finalized Hybrid Balance Test – ERL” measured in the
most recent Hybrid Balance Test on a loop/ground start trunk. This value displays in Message
Print output. See page 6-246 for details about running a Hybrid Balance test.
Last Hybrid Balance Test Timestamp
4.377 This read-only value indicates the month, day, year, and time of day of the most recent
Hybrid Balance Test. If the test has never run on the selected trunk, the field displays
“Untested” and the Measured Echo Return Loss (ERL) value is undefined. See page 6-246 for
details about running a Hybrid Balance test.
NOTE: The Measured Echo Return Loss (ERL) and the Last Hybrid Balance Test Timestamp
values are updated only with the start of each DB Programming session. If a test is run during
an active session of DB Programming, the fields will not be updated with the latest test results
until DB Programming is restarted. If Expanded Message Print is enabled, the test results
appear in Message Print output. See the Expanded Message Print output example on page 6-
251.
Service Base Number
4.378 (Used for DID, DNIS, *DNIS*, and *ANI*DNIS*) This is the base number for the
trunk. Select the current Value and enter the digits in the text box (up to 32 digits). Then press
ENTER or select another field to save the change.
