MANUAL VERSION 11.0 May 2008
CPU020 and CPU020A Card Installation Procedure
APPENDICES
10. Upload the CPU Operating System Software (part number 827.9100):
NOTE: As long as both the first (master) and third (slave) chassis in tri-/quad-chassis
installations are properly connected and on line, the system software only needs to be
uploaded to the master CPU020-Q/PCM-F Card. However, if for some reason the third
(slave) chassis is not connected or is off line, the system software must also be
uploaded to the slave CPU020-X/ PCM-F Card.
a.
Attach an RS-232 cable from an available COM port on the remote PC (not the
CP Server) to the top RS-232 port on the CPU Card.
b. Select CPU/CPC as the Board type.
11. Select the appropriate COM Port and the desired Speed (bit per second rate). Estimated
upload times are as follows:
NOTE: Be sure to select a bit rate that is compatible with the PC's capabilities. For
example, only PCs equipped with high-speed serial communications chips (e.g.,
16550 UART) can use the 38400 and 115,000 bit rates.
a.
Enter the appropriate upload source file name in the File box or use the Browse
button to locate the file (the file will end with .bin). Make sure the complete file
name appears in the box.
b. If the System has just been powered up, wait at least three minutes to allow the
system to stabilize (Major Reset should be displayed) before performing the
next step.
c. Select Start (or the Start option from the File menu).
d. The software is automatically uploaded into flash memory on the CPU Card. A
warning message will appear if you attempt to load CPU 512 Master software
without a CPU 512 Slave Card installed and communicating. You can continue the
upload by clicking
Yes or abort the upload by clicking No. (If you click Yes, you
must install software on the CPU 512 Slave Card before it will function.)
NOTE: If the upload fails to start, press the reset switch on the CPU Card six
times within three seconds, then retry the upload. If the upload fails while in
progress, the red and yellow LEDs on the CPU Card blink rapidly (ten times per
second) and the PC displays the reason for the failure. If possible, correct the prob-
lem and retry the upload.
e.
When the upload is complete, the system resets and the PC will display a message
indicating the operation was successful. Click
OK and then exit the program.
12. Load the CP Server Installation software as described on page C-33.
BPS Rate Approx. Upload Time
9600 15 minutes
19200 12 minutes
38400 6 minutes
57600 4 minutes
