INSTALLATION
3
C. PLAN STATION LOCATIONS AND TYPES OF STATION INSTRUMENTS
Prepare a cable identification plan using station circuit numbers; do not use extension
numbers (see page 3-16 for details).
Phones: The expanded, quad-chassis, Inter-Tel system has the capacity for up to 448
digital and/or analog/Executone phones. A fully-equipped ATM system can support up
to 896 digital and/or analog/Executone phones. (See page 2-72 for a listing of the avail-
able phone models and for more information on maximum station capacities.)
NOTE: Executone phones are not supported in Europe.
DSS/BLF Units: Up to 20 digital DSS/BLF Units can be installed on the system. A sin-
gle phone can be equipped with up to four units. In addition, the Executone IDS phones
support a 48-key analog DSS/BLF Console.
NOTE: Analog DSS/BLF Units cannot be installed on the European system. Also, digi-
tal DSS/BLF Units do not require a cabinet cable run that is separate from the phone's
cabling.
Mini-DSS Units: Model 8520 and 8560 Phones can connect directly to a Mini-DSS.
The number of Mini-DSS units is not limited by system resources.
Single-Line Sets: Up to 512 industry-standard, single-line DTMF or pulse-tone sets can
be installed on a quad-chassis system. (Version 2.x or later software is required for
pulse-tone sets.) For an ATM-based system, up to 1792 single-line sets can be installed.
Single-line sets are connected to Single-Line Cards (SLCs), or they can be connected to
Single-Line Adapters (SLAs), which are in turn connected to Digital Keyset Card cir-
cuits.
Playback Devices: Playback devices can be used in place of single-line stations. If the
Voice Processing PC is not used, playback devices are especially useful as hunt group
overflow/announcement stations. (See page 2-87 for specifications.)
Attendant Consoles: If desired, up to 30 digital Attendant Consoles can be installed on
the system. The consoles are connected to the system through TCP/IP connection via a
System OAI Server (CT Gateway, CP Server, or System OAI Switch Transceiver)
NOTE: Analog Attendant Computer Consoles cannot be installed on the system. Also,
version 7.0 or later software does not support Attendant Console version 2.0. If running
version 7.0 or later, Attendant Console version 3.0 is required. For additional informa-
tion on the Attendant Console, refer to the user guide included with the console pack-
age.
