B. UPLOADING CALL PROCESSING CARDS
NOTE: Although the CPC supports a TCP/IP network connection and a direct serial connec-
tion (using an RS-232 cable), Inter-Tel recommends using the TCP/IP connection when upload-
ing the software.
1.
Ensure that the programming PC is equipped with the DB Programming software. (See
page 6-17 in PROGRAMMING for details.)
2. Press the * button while powering up the CPC to place the card in download mode. The
CPU Active and DB LEDs alternately lights.
3. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable from the LAN or network hub to the IP port on
the CPC. (See Figure 3-47 on page 3-96 for a drawing showing the IP port.)
4. Select Start - Inter-Tel DB Programming - Board Utility. (The main upload screen
appears.)
5. Click New or select New from the File menu to create an entry.
6. Enter a description, up to 40 characters, in the Settings For field that allows you to
identify the connection type. For example, if creating a setting for the CPC on node 2,
enter Node 2 CPC.
7. Select CPU/CPC - Call Processing Cards as the Board type.
8. Enter the appropriate upload source file name in the File box or use the Browse button
to locate the file (the file ends with .bin). Make sure the complete file name appears
in the box.
9. Enter the IP Address or hostname of the CPC. The IP address is the device’s current IP
address or the default IP address that is programmed into the device’s local database in
flash memory.
10. Enter the Username and Password required to access the CPC. The default username is
CPU, and the default password is itpassw.
11. If necessary, enter the port number that corresponds to the CPC Web Listening Port
field in DB Programming (see page 6-179). The Port value must match the Web listen-
ing port number; otherwise, the upload fails. By default, this is 80.
12. If the System has just been powered up, wait at least three minutes to allow the system
to stabilize and finish printing power-up messages before performing the next step.
13. Click Start (or select Start from the File menu). The software is automatically uploaded
into flash memory on the CPC.
If the upload fails to start, the CPC LEDs indicate that the card is still in the download
state, and the PC displays the reason for the failure. The card remains in download
mode until the upload is attempted again. If an upload is not attempted before the
download state times out, the system resets.
14. When the upload is complete, the system resets and the PC displays a message indicat-
ing the operation was successful. Click
OK and then exit the program.
