B. VOICE PROCESSING SOFTWARE
Software Upgrades
14.12 When upgrading from one version of Voice Processing software to a newer version,
make sure you complete the following steps:
1. Log into the Voice Processing PC using the administrators account.
2. Start the Avdapmon Utility. Enter a password, if necessary. See page 3-230 for more
information about Avdapmon.
3. Stop the avdap service by entering a tilde (~) in the Avdapmon Utility window.
NOTE: When Voice Processing is shut down, all deleted messages are permanently
deleted and cannot be restored.
4.
When the avdap service is stopped, close the Avdapmon window. (You can use Task
Manager to make sure the avdap.exe process has been stopped.)
5. Install the Voice Processing software as usual. (See the next section for details.)
6. After the PC reboots, the avdap service should be running correctly. Login to verify
that. If not, contact Inter-Tel Technical Support.
Voice Processing Software Installation
14.13 If necessary, use the following procedure to re-install the Windows version of Voice
Processing applications software.
NOTE: The hard disk drive must be properly formatted and must have Windows NT Worksta-
tion version 4.0 with Service Pack 5 or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 installed. Also, if
upgrading from a previous version of Voice Processing, first stop the Avdap service in Control
Panel (see page 3-230 for details).
1.
If not already installed, attach the monitor to the 15-pin Video card connector on the
back of the Voice Processing PC. Then, plug in the monitor’s AC power cord and turn
ON the monitors AC power switch.
2. If not already installed, attach the keyboard and mouse to their appropriate connectors
on the back of the PC.
3. Turn ON the PC’s AC power switch and allow the system to boot up.
4. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL, log on using an account that has administrator rights, and then
press
OK to continue.
NOTE: In the default state, the Windows system administrator does not have a pass-
word. Inter-Tel recommends setting up a password.
5. Insert the Applications Software Disk in the PC’s floppy disk drive or the Software CD-
ROM in the CD drive.
6. Select Start and then Run.
7. In the Command Line text box, enter A:setup (or B:setup if the B drive is used).
Then select
OK.
