ip vrrp mode
Use the ip vrrp mode command in Interface Configuration mode to enable the virtual router
configured on an interface. Enabling the status field starts a virtual router. Use the no form of
the command to disable the virtual router.
Syntax
ip vrrp vr-id mode
no ip vrrp
vr-id mode
• vr-id — The virtual router identifier. (Range: 1-255)
Default Configuration
Disabled is the default configuration.
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (VLAN) mode.
User Guidelines
This command has no user guidelines.
Example
The following example enables the virtual router for VLAN 15.
console(config)#interface vlan 15
console(config-if-vlan15)#ip vrrp 5 mode
ip vrrp preempt
Use the ip vrrp preempt command in Interface Configuration mode to set the preemption
mode value for the virtual router configured on a specified interface. Use the no form of the
command to disable preemption mode.

ip vrrp vr-id preempt
no ip vrrp
vr-id preempt
• vr-id — The virtual router identifier. (Range: 1-255)
