Returns the value of the indicator bits at the beginning of the header segment. The five
bits are read as one word.

Returns the frame identifier, the number of the slot in which the frame is transmitted.

Returns the payload length, the number of data words in the payload segment. Infor-
mation is transmitted in 2-byte words, so the number of data bytes in the payload seg-
ment is twice the payload length.
