24.2.3 Signal Generation Unit
As described in detail in the following sections, the Signal Generation Unit contains three
types of modules:
• Global Timer (GT)
• Global Timer Cell (GTC)
• Local Timer Cell (LTC)
24.2.3.1 Global Timers (GT)
The GPTA provides two global 24-bit timers (GT) that are connected to the clock bus with
its eight clock lines. Each GT is locally equipped with a clock source multiplexer, a 24-bit
up-counter, a 24-bit reload register, and a 24-bit greater/equal comparator (see
Figure 24-25).
Note: Index variable k (= 0, 1) determines the number of the Global Timer.
Figure 24-25 Block Diagram of Global Timer (GT)
The following registers are assigned to the Global Timers GTk (k = 0, 1):
• GTCTRk = Global Timer Control Register k (see Page 24-170)
• GTREVk = Global Timer Reload Value Register k (see Page 24-172)
• GTTIMk = Global Timer Register k (see Page 24-171)
• SRSC0 = Service Request State Clear Register 0 (see Page 24-206)
• SRSS0 = Service Request State Set Register 0 (see Page 24-208)
