vrrp preempt
Description
With this command, you specify that a router with higher priority can take over the master
role from a router with lower priority.
Note
This
command is available only with layer 3.
Requirement
An IP address is assigned to the virtual router.
You are in the VRRP3 Interface configuration mode.
The command prompt is as follows:
cli(config-vrrp-v3-if-$$$)#
Syntax
Call up the command with the following parameters:
vrrp <vrid(1-255)> preempt
The parameters have the following meaning:

vrid
ID of the virtual router
1 ... 255
delay minimum
Keyword for a period of time

Result
The function is enabled.
Further notes
You assign IP addresses to a virtual router with the vrrp associated-ip command.
You enable routing with VRRP3 with the
router vrrp command.
You disable the function with the
no vrrp preempt command.
You can display the status of the function with the
show vrrp3 or with the show vrrp3
interface
command.
