Router configuration: C3(su)->router(Config-router)#
Usage
Split horizon prevents a network from being advertised out the same interface it was received on.
This function is disabled by default.
Example
This example shows how to disable split horizon poison reverse for RIP packets transmitted on
the VLAN 1 interface:
C3(su)->router(Config)#router rip
C3(su)->router(Config-router)#no split-horizon poison
passive-interface
Use this command to prevent RIP from transmitting update packets on an interface. The no form
of this command disables passive interface.
Syntax
passive-interface vlan vlan-id
no passive-interface vlan vlan-id
Parameters
Defaults
None.
Mode
Router configuration: C3(su)->router(Config-router)#
Usage
This command does not prevent RIP from monitoring updates on the interface.
Example
This example shows how to set VLAN 2 as a passive interface. No RIP updates will be transmitted
on VLAN 2:
C3(su)->router(Config)#router rip
C3(su)->router(Config-router)#passive-interface vlan 2
vlan vlan-id Specifies the number of the VLAN to make a passive interface. This VLAN
must be configured for IP routing as described in ā€œPre-Routing
Configuration Tasksā€ on page 24-1.
