Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
Routing information protocol (RIP) is a distance vector routing protocol. The Dell Force10 operating software (FTOS)
supports both RIP version 1 (RIPv1) and RIP version 2 (RIPv2) on the C-Series, E-Series, S-Series, Z-Series, or S4810
platforms.
NOTE: The C-Series platform supports RIP with FTOS version 7.6.1.0 and later. The S-Series platform supports RIP
with FTOS version 7.8.1.0 and later. Prior to 7.6.1.0, only the E-Series platform supported RIP.
The FTOS implementation of RIP is based on IETF RFCs 2453 and RFC 1058. For more information about configuring RIP,
refer to the
FTOS Configuration Guide
.
