Managing Configuration and Image Files
MatrixSeriesdevicesprovideasingleconfigurationinterfacewhichallowsyoutoperformboth
switchandrouterconfigurationwiththesamecommandset.Thedevicealsoprovidesredundant,
distributedcopiesofeachimagefileintheeventthatDFEmodulesareaddedorremovedfrom
theMatrixchassis.Whenmanagingconfiguration
andimagefilesontheMatrixSeriesdevice,itis
importanttorememberthefollowingconsiderations:
•Allmoduleswillhavethesameimagefilesloaded.Ifamoduleisinsertedintoachassis,any
imagesuniquetothatmodulewillbedeleted,andanyimagesnotonthatmodulewillbe
copiedtoit.
• Configurationfilesarestoredperslot,witheachslotinthechassiscarryinguniquefileswith
itandnotinheritingfiles.
TheMatrixSeriesdevicesnowsupportascriptfeaturetha tallowsyoutoexecuteapreviously
createdscriptfilecontainingCLIcommands,andatthetimeof
execution,enteroptional
argumentsthatmodifytheactionsofthecommands.Thisfeatureisintendedtosimplifythe
configurationofportsandVLANs,bycreatingscriptfilescontaininggroupsofcommandsthat
youwanttorunonthesameport‐stringorVLANid.Atthetimeofexecution,youpass
inthe
port‐string,VLANid,andanyotherrequiredargumentsthatyouwantthecommandstooperate
on.Refertothescriptcommand,“script”onpage 2‐88.
