Configuring Debug IP Packet
Purpose
DebugIPpacketisanIPbasedpacketmonitorthatallowsforthemonitoringofallIPtraffic
receivedandtransmittedfromanN‐Seriesrouterforwardingengine.DebugIPPacketuses
SYSLOGmessagestodisplaypacketinformation.Packetfilteringtakesplacebyassigningarouter
accessgrouptothedebug
ippacketcommandandisbasedonthegroup sACLentries.This
utilitydisplaysmatchingframesforthedefinedsignaturebeingprocessedinthesoftpathofthe
router.Itisdesirablethatthenumberofrulesassignedtotheaccessgroupbelimitedsoasto
minimizetheimpact
ontheforwardingsystemperformance.Bydefaulttheutilitydisplaysa
subsetofavailableinformation.Averboseoptionprovidesdetailedpacketinformation.Options
areavailabletoboththrottlethenumberofpacketspersecondandlimitthenumberofpackets
perboard.
