About Fonts 4-6 Revision D
The following factors affect font memory use:
•
Style: Edged fonts require roughly three times more
memory.
•
Size: The larger the Machine Font, the more mem-
ory consumed.
•
Edge Type: The more complex the edge, the more
memory is required.
•
Multicolored/Textured Characters/Logos: These
require more memory than ordinary fonts.
•
Video Input/RGB Captured images: A larger
pixel-mapped image may consume over 1.5 MB of
font memory. Smaller images consume less space,
depending on size.
•
Transform Messages: Transform messages require
more memory than regular messages.
•
Number of Characters Within a Font: Although a
typical font contains about 82 characters, fonts can
hold up to 192 characters.
NOTE
To check memory use when fonts are
loaded, use the Fnts Loaded function
(§6.7.4). Pressing CNTL ALT 3
displays the memory allocation on
the Prompt Line.
