• Standard Roll is a single frame buffer function. Due to
the limitations of video refresh rates used with PAL
and NTSC standards, slow or fractional speed Rolls
may result in video anomalies such as jitter. Preview
any single frame buffer Roll that uses a fractional
speed or a speed that is 5 or lower!
• To eliminate jitter, a smooth slow speed Roll can be
achieved by executing the Roll as a Special Roll. Spe-
cial Roll requires at least two standard frame buffers,
or one Extended Effects Frame Buffer (EEFB). See
§9.3.6 for more detailed information.
• Additionally, a Timed Roll must be executed as a Spe-
cial Roll (§9.3.1, §9.3.3), unless executed on a MAX-
INE! equipped with one standard frame buffer. This
type of MAXINE! can execute a Timed Roll.
• It is important to note that any palette (§10.3, §10.4)
and scanline background (§10.5) information that is
assigned to the first rolled message is carried through
all of the rolled messages in the Roll Control Buffer
List. Any other palette or scanline background infor-
mation from other messages in the Roll is ignored.
Messages such as End of Text (§8.5.2) and One Row
(§8.5.3) do not contain such information, and can be
rolled over the currently displayed background using
the current palette. See §9.3.2 for more information.

(Pub. No. 2A01988), or the Logo Compose Manual (Pub. No. 2A01990)
for information about converting RGB(A) images into Machine Font char-
acters.
