By pressing T, a smooth ramp is generated that distributes
duplicated colors and scanlines to the start and ending
points, thereby eliminating banding in the center of the
gradated background. A user can easily experiment with
the different gradation options by pressing the
S, T, and G
keys in sequence to arrive at the background that looks
best for the colors and scanlines selected.

• To leave Background mode, press CNTL or Q.
• To erase an existing background while in the
mode, press
HOME, then ERASE.
• To erase only a piece of an existing background,
place the background cursor on the topmost
scanline to be erased. On the Address Keypad,
enter the value which specifies the number of
scanlines you want to erase. For example, to
erase
20 scanlines, enter 0020. Press ERASE.

When Background mode is first entered, the background
cursor is at line 1.
• To make the cursor visible, press
HOME SHIFT

Ï. The cursor moves to line 10.
Default cursor movement is ten scanlines at a time (as
shown in the address display). You can enter any number
into the address keypad, from
0 to 485 for full visible
NTSC screen, or
0 to 586 for full visible PAL screen, to
move the cursor in the increment you specify. If no entry
is made (
0000 on the address display), the cursor moves
one scanline at a time.
• To return the cursor to line 0, press the
HOME key.
