SCSI Express software enables you to select a SCSI
Express drive as the current Message Directory, which
allows direct fast read of any Still on the disk. You may
also use the Block Message Utility (
CNTL L from the
Message Compose main menu) to list the files on the
drive.

For users without the IMAGESTOR! option, fast Read
and Record of RGB messages is available via Image
Tools. The
SCSI Express key is not used. Simply spec-
ify the desired SCSI Express drive in the Image Tools
Read or Record menu. Note that images recorded on the
SCSI Express drive are saved as Still files, not as Image
Tools files.

The SCSI Express drives are mounted when the sys-
tem boots. This may cause a delay before the Pro-
gram Loader menu appears.
NFS VOLUME CONFLICTS: CAUTION! In the
Program Loader setup, the Network Configuration
menu option called “Edit Drives” allows you to con-
figure drives
W through Z as NFS volumes.
These drives must be reconfigured on entry to Mes-
sage Compose, using drive letters in the range from
N through V, as W through Z must be dedicated to
SCSI Express drives. A warning box appears upon
entry to Message Compose if such a conflict is
detected.
