Revision D 14-1 Buffers & Channels
6HFWLRQ%XIIHUV&KDQQHOV
This section explains the principles of buffer and channel
assignments on the iNFiNiT! and MAX!> systems. Text
and illustrations trace the video information from buffer
input to the final output at CHANNELS 1 and 2 and the
optional Third Channel Output (v3.52 and later).
The optional Third Channel Output is available to
iNFiNiT! systems only. On an additional monitor, it dis-
plays the contents of CHANNEL B as a separate output
at 100% video level. See (§14.4) and the Third Channel
Output Installation Field Update for more information.
NOTE
MAXINE! is equipped with one frame
buffer and one output. Therefore, it is
not able to access the CHNG, CNTL
CHNG, and CNTL XFER functions
described in the following sections.
MAXINE! can use the XFER function
to swap the contents of the displaying
buffer and a non-displaying memory
buffer.
See §14.9.3 for more
information

Both iNFiNiT! and MAX!> are configured to work as
Single User systems. One keyboard controls all func-
tions in one of these systems. The optional conversion to
Dual Users on the iNFiNiT! requires adding a second
keyboard, and resetting the Keyboard ID (§3.6.2) and the
User mode (§3.6.3) in the Program Loader menu (§3.5).
Both the input and output paths of each of the frame buff-
ers can be set. Buffer inputs are switched from channel
to channel using the
CHNG and CNTL CHNG functions
