To record the Roll Control Buffer List:
• Enter an empty address on the Address Keypad,
then press
CNTL RCD ROLL.

Before executing a Roll, the system checks the validity
of the Roll Control Buffer List entries and the mix setup
(See §16.7 for information on channel and buffer assign-
ments.). When the check is complete, the system can
then execute the Roll. The Roll cannot begin until all
errors in the list or the mix settings are corrected.
NOTE
A Soft Mask (§16.12) can be used in
conjunction with a Roll only on the
MAX!> and iNFiNiT! systems. It is not
available on the MAXINE!
You MUST clear a Hard Mask
(§15.8.6), available with Extended
Effects Frame Buffers, from the
screen before executing a Roll.
Note that Soft Mask and Hard Mask
are NOT the same functions. Soft
Mask is accessed from the Mix
Control window (§16.3, §16.12). Hard
Mask is accessed from the Read
Effects main menu (§15.8.1 and
§15.8.6).
To load the Roll Control Buffer and display the Roll Exe-
cution window (Figure 9-4):
• Press
ROLL.
If
Status is enabled, the Roll Execution window displays
information which specifies how long the Roll would
take to execute at each of the integral speeds from
1 to 9.
