Flash Font 13-36 Revision D
(UDVLQJ7DE)LHOGV
If using a Flash Font in a tab field, in order to keep the
attributes of the Flash Font, it is necessary to keep one
Flash Font character in each tab field when saving the
Tab Data message. When
CNTL ERASE is pressed to
erase a screen (leaving the tabs intact), it saves the first
character in each field if
COLOR FONT was set.

Normally, Flash Font data is maintained and managed for
all active frame buffers in the system. Although this pro-
vides the ability to edit Flash Font or Advanced On-Line
converted character font data in any frame buffer, a side
effect of this data management is slower recall times dur-
ing read and Read Next operations.
By disabling this memory management, recall times can
be substantially improved for messages containing Flash
Font or Advanced On-Line converted characters. Note
that by disabling font memory management, the system
cannot redraw Flash Font or On-Line characters if you
switch back to the original buffer. In this case, the origi-
nal message should be re-read into the original frame
buffer before editing.
To enable/disable Flash Font/On-Line Font memory
management:
• From the Message Compose main menu, press
CNTL
1
. Each time CNTL 1 is pressed, a prompt is displayed
showing the current state of memory management.
